Installation
Why installation quality decides long-term performance, and how GlasFëns supports installers.
Never underestimate the importance of a good installation. Smooth, trouble-free operation of your windows and doors is critical to long-term satisfaction, and the installation detail decides whether the product's rated performance survives contact with the building.
What a good installation includes
- A level, square rough opening with the correct clearance for shims and insulation.
- A sloped or pan-flashed sill that drains any water to the exterior.
- Exterior flashing integrated with the water-resistive barrier, lapped shingle-fashion.
- Low-expansion foam or mineral wool in the shim space.
- A continuous interior air seal (tape or sealant with backer rod) connected to the wall's air barrier.
- Hardware adjusted to the factory settings after the unit is fixed, and compression checked on every operable sash.
How GlasFëns supports installation
GlasFëns works with licensed, bonded and insured installers for complete installation and waterproofing, and is happy to provide an installation and flashing bid on request. If you have your own installers, we provide installation details for common wall assemblies and are available for guidance and site review. We want our clients to enjoy years of problem-free use of the products we sell; that starts with fabrication and continues past installation.
